Description

ORIGINALLY POSTED IN 2011

I forgot to do the Inking phase. D: So no WIP for juu! xD Well, sorta- I'll explain my process in this.

When I sketch a picture, I only use skeletons when two or more figures are interacting- and that's only sometimes. I use a piece of paper or my fingers for head measurements. I don't really have a "Messy Sketch" phase, because I tend to clean as I go.

For inking, I use a "M" Fable Castle black pen, saving the "S" for details- or in this case, also the reflection. I erase with a pink giant eraser after everything I intended to ink is inked. If I make a mistake, I have an amazing white-out pen I use to correct. Unfortunately, it is not god and I sometimes have to scan the ink for the surface to be correct.
Sometimes this step is skipped for a realistic look or the markings are not inked for, again, and more realistic look.

Coloring- the longest and most hazardous process. I put pressure where I want it darkest, and little where I want the lightest. I tend to do strokes for clean hair and circles everywhere else, but for things like feathers and scales, I bare down in "u"s in layers first to give it that look. Sometimes I forget to color up&down at that point, so I end up coloring it flat. For bigger feathers (such and primaries), I will bare down on the shaft, and then color in strokes out from it. I've recently begun to layer and use complementary colors for making certain areas extremely dark.
Hazards are everywhere. I can color to darkly and try to erase some (doesn't always work), I can color an area a wrong color, or the white-out could dry chunky and make the coloring weird!

*SORTA SPOILERS FOR HARRY POTTER BOOK 7 AND THE LAST MOVIE*
I cried when I saw this scene, and I've always been a giant SeverusxLily fan since the last book, so of course I did fanart. It's Sev leaning against the Mirror of Erised, with Lily kissing his cheek in the reflection. These are all based on how I saw the characters and/or objects, not the actors and/or movie props.
*SPOILER END*

I really like this piece, even if I did forget the reflection of Sev's hips.
